The Wolverine Wrestling Club headed to Fort Pierre last weekend for the District 3 AAU Tournament, bringing home four first-place finishes and qualifying numerous athletes for the Region 2 AAU Tournament held Saturday, March 11, in Pierre.
The top eight placing athletes in each weight class at district advanced to the regional tournament.
Those finishing top in their weight classes at the district tournament include Keegan Sauer, first in the Midgets 89 division and scored 4 team points; Noah Williams, first in the Novice 175 division and scored 7 points; Jenna Weisbeck first in the Girls B (Grades 3-5) HWT division and scored 2 team points; and Dora Bonen first in the Girls C (Grades 6-8) 130 division and scored 2 team points.
Second-place finishers include Kinlee Rossow in the Girls C (Grades 6-8) HWT division; Zoe Huber in the Girls A (Grades PreK-2) 90 division; and Monte Bertsch III in the Midgets 72 division, scoring 22 team points.
Jase Bonen placed third in the Midgets 104 division, scoring 9 team points; Hunter Bonen placed third in the Novice 72 division and scored 12; David Little Jr. Little placed third in the Tots 57 division; Jared Weisbeck placed third in the Schoolboy 140 division and scored 8.5 team points; and Maddox Borr placed third in the Schoolboy 180 division and scored 9 team points.

Earning fourth-place fishes were Rhys Starkey in the Schoolboy 160 division, with 4.0 team points; and Gabriel Hanson in the Bantam 53 division with 16 team points.
Rounding out the regional qualifiers are Todd Maier, who placed fifth in the Novice 72 division and scored 5 team will be the State AAU Tournament scheduled for March 24-26 in Aberdeen.
