The Tigers ran their winning streak to five games with a 59-49 win over Todd County at Mobridge-Pollock High School Gymnasium on Saturday.
The Todd County offense could not get much going in the first half as the Tigers took a 32-13 lead. Shane Henderson grabbed an offensive rebound and scored as the buzzer sounded to give the Tigers a 16-7 lead after one quarter. The Tigers ended the second quarter on an 8-0 run with Jackson Eisemann scoring six straight points before Kobe Johnson-Good Shield hit two free throws to give the Tigers a 19-point lead at the half.
The Tigers held a 39-20 lead in the third quarter until Todd County heated up with an 11-2 run to cut the Tiger lead to 41-31 after three quarters.
With Michael Wald scoring seven points, the Tigers restored order with a 12-3 run to start the fourth quarter.
Jackson Eisemann and Wald tied for scoring honors with 17 points each. Eisemann had four steals and Wald had two. Henderson hit eight of 10 free throws, scored 12 points, grabbed six rebounds and blocked two shots. Johnson-Good Shield added seven points and a team-leading seven rebounds.
Drake Espinoza led the Falcons with 13 points. Oniya Whirlwind Soldier scored nine points. Stacy Eagle Bear-Poignee scored eight points and grabbed seven rebounds.
Belle Fourche
The Tigers pulled off as unlikely win as ever when they defeated Belle Fourche 58-57 in Belle Fourche on Thursday.
The Tigers trailed the Broncs 57-49 with three minutes to play when Shane Henderson hit six straight free throws and a basket to tie the game at 57-57 with 31 seconds left. The Broncs missed a shot that the Tigers tipped out of bounds and with 1.2 seconds left, Belle Fourche’s Anthony Staley was fouled on the inbounds and went to the free throw line. Staley missed both shots and then fouled Michael Wald on the rebounds. Wald stepped to the line with 0.8 seconds left and calmly swished his first attempt to give the Tigers their come-from-behind win.
In a close first half, the Tigers led 10-9 after one quarter and 24-22 at the half. Belle Fourche outscored the Tigers 19-13 in the third quarter to take a 41-37 lead. Their 57-49 lead was the largest lead of the game.
Jackson Eisemann led the Tigers with 18 points, including eight in the fourth quarter, while adding five rebounds and four assists. Henderson finished with 17 points and eight rebounds, connecting on 11 of 13 shots from the charity stripe. Kobe Johnson-Good Shield scored nine points and Holden Eisemann scored eight.
Anthony Budmayr led Belle Fourche with a game-high 22 points, drilling five three-pointers. Jet Jensen followed with 14 points.
