‘Love Lights a Tree’ ceremonies scheduled for area communities


In addition to all the other Christmas Trees going up this joyous holiday season, there will again be special ones.

The annual “Love Lights a Tree” lighting ceremonies will be held in Herreid Monday, Nov. 25, at 7 p.m. next to the Fire Hall. It will be held on Monday, Dec. 2, at 6:45 p.m. at the courthouse in Mound City. Pollock’s tree will also be lit Monday, Dec. 2, at 7 p.m. in the Centennial Park.

Each light on the trees represents a donation of $5 to the American Cancer Society. Donations can be made in memory of a loved one or in honor of someone special. Donations can be made by contacting Lona Mickelson in Mound City at (605) 253- 330-9765, Melanie Weisbeck in Herreid at (605) 437-2789 or (605) 848-2976 or Cindy Moser in Pollock at (605) 889-2318.

In addition to the Love Lights, contributions can be made year around to the Honor/Gifts Memorial Program of the American Cancer Society. The American Cancer Society is a nationwide community based voluntary health organization dedicated to eliminating cancer as a major health problem by preventing cancer, saving lives from cancer and diminishing suffering from cancer through research, education and patient services.
