Fourth of July events for Campbell, Emmons counties


Summer just began according to the calendar, and what better way to kick-off the season than to celebrate Independence Day.

Here are some upcoming Fourth of July events for Campbell and Emmons counties to make sure no one misses a beat!

July 1

– Strasburg Lions Club and Close Up Run-Walk 10K and 5K 8a.m.

– Linton Lions Club Demolition Derby 1:30 p.m. at the Linton Rifle Range.

July 2

– Herreid Community Fireworks Show at dusk at Clyde Schoeck Park Baseball Field.

July 4

– Westfield Parade 9:30 a.m.

– Following the parade, Westfield will host the 14th annual Pie Throwing Contest, concessions, kids games and softball tournament.

– Linton Fourth of July parade will be at 10 a.m. starting at the Linton Concrete Plant.

– Fourth of July Celebration parade 11 a.m. Strasburg

– Fourth of July Celebration car and tractor show following the parade in Strasburg, along with a cornhole tournament.

– Fourth of July Celebration inflatables, street games and races 1 p.m. Strasburg.

– Free swimming from 1 to 5 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. in Strasburg.

– Free popsicles 3 to 3:30 p.m. in front of Strasburg State Bank.

– Fourth of July Celebration Ribfest 5 p.m. Strasburg.
