Eight riders receive scores during third annual Strasburg Bull Bash

Texan wins the Uno Triple Crown

JT Moore of LaMarque, Texas, held on for 8 seconds during the third annual Strasburg Bull Bash, scoring 78 points. That was enough to win first place in the Uno Triple Crown event, winning a boat and more.

Nine contestants held on for an eight-second ride to score in the third annual Strasburg Bull Bash this month.

According to event coordinator Darek Keller, about 50 riders participated in the event, and more than 200 spectators filled the stands, making this the best year for the bull bash,

“We are already making plans for next year,” Keller said.

Taking the top spot was Dillion Michael of Ashton, Nebraska, scoring 85 points.

Michael was not the only out-of-state contestant in Strasburg, the rodeo starts came from North Dakota, South Dakota, Texas, Minnesota, Montana, Oklahoma, Florida and New Mexico.

Rider Cody Fitzpatrick traveled from Glenewen, Saskatchewan, Canada, while Jake Maher represented Queensland, Australia.

Keller said a few of the riders and crew did sustain injuries, such as a broken collar bone, broken leg and broken arm, but were recovering well later in the week.

“They are tough,” Keller said.

The bulls for the bash were provided by four different ranchers and were described as “high caliber” by Keller. He noted he was grateful for the partnerships of not just the ranchers, but all the sponsors who made this event possible.

Keller said he started this event three years ago because, growing up, he could not get enough of the bull riding events.

“I wanted to bring (that event) here,” Keller said.

Looking at nest year, Keller is already starting to plan to make the event bigger and better.

Leading up to the bash, the Beaver Valley Horse Club set up the night before to host a Ranch Rodeo, which included events like, steer roping, branding and more.

The third annual Strasburg Bull Bash was also part of the Uno Triple Crown event, which took the average score of the Brian Curtis Memorial on Aug 12, the Golden Valley Shootout on Aug. 13 and the Strasburg Bull Bask on Aug. 14. The highest point earner won a boat and custom fit chaps from Running C Leather.

Winning that crown was JT Moore of LaMarque, Texas.
