Dennis Wayne Haan

December 5, 1935 - June 2, 2022

Dennis Wayne Haan, 86, Hull, North Dakota passed away peacefully Thursday morning June 2, 2022, at the Strasburg Care Center. 

Burial will take place at 1:00 p.m. Thursday, June 9, 2022, at the Hull Cemetery prior to Services at the church. There will be no public visitation. 

Funeral Services will be held Thursday, June 9, 2022, 2:00 p.m. at the Hull Christian Reformed Church with Pastor Floyd Haan officiating. The family invites everyone to join them in honoring the memory of Dennis after the service in the fellowship hall for cake and coffee.

Dennis Wayne Haan was born December 5, 1935, to Gerrit and Ella (Winterberg) Haan on their family farm outside of Hull, North Dakota. A few years after completing school he moved to attend Hanson Mechanical trade school. 

Dennis married Mary Ann Wester on June 25, 1958. Following their marriage Mary Ann and Dennis farmed while raising their two children, Scott, and Jodi on Their family farm. farming was Dennis’s life, he made a great life for the family, always working the land. He was a member of the Linton Hospital Board for many years and also served on the Strasburg Rodeo Club Board and the Wildlife Wesfield Club.

Dennis always had a smile on his face, he was an easy going, quiet man who had a wonderful sense of humor and liked to make people laugh and was always there to help anyone in need. Dennis was a member of Hull Christian Reformed Church in Hull, ND where he and his family attended for many years. 

Most precious in his heart was his family He was a kind and loving husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather. Some of his favorite things were family get togethers, anything to do with farming, fixing just about anything, horses, cattle, and his hunting trips to Wyoming and above all he loved camping with his family and friends. He also played softball and bowled on men’s leagues for many years. 

Grateful to have shared his life was his wife Mary Ann of 63 years; 2 children, Son Scott (Lori) Haan and daughter Jodi (Greg) Chewakin; 5 Grandchildren, Nikki (Jon) Hager, Brian (Molly) Haan, Dustin (Jisun) Haan, Whitney Chewakin (Mike Riser), Rachel Chewakin (Christopher Mendezona); 9 Great Grandchildren, Sam Hager, Eli Hager, Ivy Hager, Emmett Haan, Kiera Haan, Ji Woo Haan, Kayden Riser, Kaylee Riser, and Karter Riser. 

He was preceded in death by his parents Gerrit and Ella (Winterberg) Haan; brothers, Arnold Haan, Kenneth Haan, Glen Haan and Sister, Marlene Van Beek. 

The family would like to extend a special thank you to the Strasburg Care Center in Strasburg. The accommodations and staff are remarkable. It truly is a place filled with loving and caring staff.
