Board recinds motion on PFAS program

Regular Board Meeting

February 6, 2023

The regular meeting of the Pollock Town Board was called to order at 7:30 p.m. by Board President Gjefle in the Pollock Community Center lunchroom. Other members present were Fish, Meyer, and Seymour. Also attending was finance officer Leanne Jakobsen, maintenance man Travis Vetsch, Jodie Gjefle, Jan Johnson, Delores Kluckman, and Kelli Ameling of the Prairie Pioneer.

Seymour made a motion to approve the agenda. Meyer seconded the motion. All aye and motion carried.

Meyer made a motion to approve the January minutes. Moser seconded the motion. All aye and motion carried.

The financial reports were reviewed. Seymour made a motion to approve the financial reports. Fish seconded the motion. All aye and motion carried.

In his maintenance report Vetsch reported everything is working well. A breaker needed to be replaced in the community center gym, a sewer pipe in the community center basement broke, leaking sewage on the furnace, and that has been repaired. He also reported the former maintenance shop is using a lot of propane. He suggested looking into a new heater for the building. Vetsch was instructed to get a quote for a new heater.

The delinquent water bill list was reviewed. There were four shut off letters sent. No one was shut off last month, as all that received letters paid.

Jakobsen reported she had received more information on the PFAS Cost Recovery Program that was discussed last month. After review of the additional information, Fish made a motion to rescind the motion made in January to register in the PFAS Cost Recovery Program. Meyer seconded the motion. All aye and motion carried.

In the period for public comment, Jan Johnson expressed concerns over the full time employee wages.

NEW BUSINESS:

Jodie Gjefle, representing the Pollock community fitness center committee, met with the board to ask permission to set up a portable ping pong table on the stage in the community center gym, with hazard tape put on the edge of the stage, and also pickle ball equipment on the gym floor. Seymour made a motion to grant permission to set up pickle ball and ping pong equipment in the community center gym. Moser seconded the motion. All aye and motion carried.

Fish made a motion to hold a public hearing on March 6, 2023 at 8:00 p.m. for renting the former 1st and 2nd grade room in the Pollock Community Center. Meyer seconded the motion. All aye and motion carried.

Moser made a motion to hold a public hearing on March 6, 2023 at 8:05 p.m. for renting the former Title 1 room in the Pollock Community Center. Meyer seconded the motion. All aye and motion carried.

Seymour made a motion to hold the local board of equalization meeting on March 20, 2023 at 5:00 p.m. in the community center lunchroom. Moser seconded the motion. All aye and motion carried. Appeals need to be filed with the finance officer by March 16, 2023.

Jakobsen reported the District 7 annual meeting is scheduled for March 22nd, 2023 in Akaska.

Fish made a motion to approve bills. Meyer seconded the motion. All aye and motion carried.

As there was no further business, Seymour made a motion to adjourn. Fish seconded the motion. All aye and motion carried. Meeting was adjourned at 8:15 p.m.
