Henry Serr Jr., 89, of Hazelton, N.D., died Friday, June 28, 2019, after battling with cancer.

The Funeral Service for Henry was held Friday, July 5, at Peace Lutheran Church in Linton with Pastor Sean Barnhart officiating. Burial was at the Linton Cemetery.

Henry was born on Oct. 30, 1929, during the first snowstorm of the winter on the family farm west of Temvik, N.D. Here he grew up, attended rural school and farmed with his family. He was the youngest child of Henry Sr. and Louisa (Grenz) Serr. He was baptized on May 25, 1930, and became a member of Peace Lutheran Church on June 28, 1959.

On July 25, 1948, Henry married Edna Schiermeister at Peace Lutheran Church in Linton. This union was blessed with three children: Terence Henry, Candis Meri and Shelley Renae. In the fall of 1958, Henry and family moved onto the Reimer Ranch which remained his home until his passing.

Henry was a very patient and loving husband and father. He was fun-loving with a great sense of humor. His passions were his faith, family, horses, ranching and farming.

Henry is survived by his wife, Edna, of 71 years; son, Terence (Shirlene) Serr of Hazelton; daughters: Candis (Kinley) Wagner and Shelley Serr, all of Hazelton; four grandchildren: Rachel (Kevin) Dykema of Bismarck, Craig (Katie) Serr of Bismarck Kristi (Duffer) Slater of Menoken, N.D., and Alison (Matt) Randle of Mapleton, N.D.; his great-grandchildren: Connor, Hailey and Brianna Dykema, Henry, Hazel and Eva Serr, Kadence, Alyssa and Triston Slater and Paxton and Emsley Randle; and sisters-in-law: Lily Serr and Carol Serr.

He was preceded in death by his parents; siblings: infant brother George, Pauline (Adam) Just, Emma (Emil) Munsch, Adolph Serr, Alvina (Albert) Goehring, infant sister Frieda, John (Esther) Serr, Leona (Edward) Kiemele, Bertha (Ben) Sikel, Martha (Emil Haas) and (Robert Roe), Marie (Lee) Brinkman, Annetta (Herbert) Heer and Robert Serr.
