Town of Pollock receives public water system award from SD DENR


The South Dakota Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) has announced that the Town of Pollock public water system and the system’s operation specialist has been awarded a Secretary’s Award for Drinking Water Excellence.

“Safe drinking water is all too often taken for granted. DENR wishes to recognize the Town of Pollock with the secretary’s Award for Drinking Water Excellence for delivering safe drinking water to their customers for 16 consecutive years,” said DENR Secretary Steve Pirner. “Year after year the Town of Pollock system operation specialist has worked tirelessly to provide safe drinking water, establishing a legacy that will benefit future generations.”

The system’s operation specialist is Travis Vetsch.

To qualify for the Secretary’s Award for Drinking Water Excellence, public water systems and their system operations specialists had to meet all of the following requirements for 10 consecutive years or more: compliance monitoring and reporting; drinking water standards, and certification requirements.
