Blizzards of Spring
As we hunkered down over the weekend to face winter storm “Xerxes” and a good foot of April snow, I reflected on my growing respect for the pioneers who wintered here in the 1880s, using overturned wagons and sod bricks for shelter. I admire the endurance of the Plains Indians who came before. It is an exceptional place that produces exceptional people.
