Hoffman running for State House seat

Charlie Hoffman, a Republican from rural Eureka and Long Lake, has announced that he is a candidate for the South Dakota House of Representatives.

“Our district only gets two seats in State House,” Hoffman said. “If elected, the voters have my word that I would be a voice for all of the people in District 23.”

Hoffman stresses the importance of holding the line on taxes.

“With the high fuel prices we’re experiencing today, the representatives we send to Pierre need to be painfully aware that people are hurting,” he explained, pointing to his lifelong experiences in agriculture and business, “and it’s not just our farmers and ranchers who are being negatively impacted.  Our hospitals and clinics, our schools, our Main Streets, and every home owner is getting hurt by these prices, too!  They are especially unfair to our Senior Citizens who are forced to live on fixed incomes. I believe they deserve better.”

In addition to his real-life work experiences in farming and ranching, Hoffman’s 12 years on the local school board give him a keen insight in the complexities of K-12 education in South Dakota.

“Our schools in rural South Dakota must get their fair share of state aid to education,” he said. “We need to protect our interests.”

A staunch advocate for American military veterans, Hoffman believes that both the State of South Dakota and the federal government must do more to care for service men and women.

“Our veterans deserve better. They should not have to travel great distances to get the medical care they need and deserve!” he expresses strongly. “They command our greatest respect and our deepest appreciation for the sacrifices they have made. If the people of District 23 will give me the chance to serve them in Pierre, I will do my very best to serve them well, and I will give them every ounce of energy I have.”

Hoffman and his wife, Holly, lifelong residents of South Dakota, raised their three grown children on the family farm near Eureka.

“I urge people to call me to share their concerns,” he added, “or they can email me at hmanangus@valleytel.net. I would welcome their input and advice.”
