Pollock’s sales tax to increase on July 1

Beginning July 1, 12 South Dakota communities, including Pollock, will implement new municipal taxes or update their current city taxes. The general sales and use tax rate in Pollock will go from one percent to two percent.

The South Dakota Department of Revenue and Regulation has Municipal Tax Information Bulletins available listing all municipal sales and use tax rates statewide, as well as information on tribal sales, use and excise taxes. Updated bulletins are free of charge and available after July 1 by contacting the Department of Revenue and Regulation.

The other municipal tax changes that will take effect on July 1 include:

• Andover is implementing a two percent general sales and use tax rate.

• Ashton is imposing a one percent general sales and use tax rate.

• Astoria is implementing a one percent general sales and use tax rate.

• Bison is imposing a two percent general sales and use tax rate.

• Bryant is increasing its general sales and use tax rate from one percent to two percent.

• Canistota is imposing a one percent gross receipts tax on alcoholic beverages, eating establishments, lodging accommodations, and ticket sales and admissions to places of amusement or athletic and cultural events. The community already has a general sales and use tax rate of two percent.

• Harrold is increasing its general sales and use tax rate from one percent to two percent.

• Java is increasing its general sales and use tax rate from one percent to two percent.

• McIntosh is increasing its general sales and use tax rate from one percent to two percent.

• Piedmont is implementing a two percent general sales and use tax rate.

• Selby is increasing its general sales and use tax rate from one percent to two percent.
